About Us
I am not your ordinary daycare provider.
My Name is Tammy Stuart and I am a child development professional with over 24 continuous years childcare experience, starting in 1998.
I was a lead preschool teacher for infants/toddlers and preschoolers at Children's Hospital's Childcare Center and Judy Palmer Preschool for 8 years before I opened my daycare in 2006.
I have 4 associates degrees: infant/toddler, master teacher, site supervisor, and teacher.
I also have an almost complete Bachelors degree in Behavioral Science.
In addition, I am a mother of three wonderful children of my own.
So, not only do I have childcare experience, I have mommy experience.
I am a California-state licensed daycare provider, with up to date Red Cross First-aid, Adult, Infant, and Child CPR, and Preventative Health and Safety Certifications.
I am also infant/toddler trained through the YMCA.
I specialize in infants, toddlers and preschool aged children.
I have a passion for children. And I find my job very rewarding.
It is my personal goal to provide a place where children want to be and where parents feel comfortable leaving them.
Our Philosophy
Our philosophy is that babies and children learn through play. We provide opportunities for developmentally appropriate hands on activities. We encourage the children to explore, create, problem solve, and use critical thinking skills. We believe that providing these opportunities will empower the children and enhance their future learning skills.
My Home
My home is a licensed family daycare.
My home is child centered, meaning that I do every thing according to the children. I feed them when they are hungry, I put them to sleep when they are sleepy, and play/teach/interact with them all throughout the day.
My home is designed to promote a child's personal qualities. I let the children discover and explore things for them self, this promotes high self-esteem, self confidence, and the ability to show leadership.
I incorporated group activities that instill team work and cooperation into the children to influence positive social interaction.
My home is very warm and loving.
There are plenty of infant/toddler toys and tons of books.
Developmentally appropriate activities are provided to ensure that each child is progressing at their unique developmental milestone
My home is an enriching environment.
A clean, safe, healthy environment is provided where children feel safe and secure.
In this atmosphere, children can bond and build trust with me and the other children.
At Starting Small babies and children have the knowledge they are loved and wanted. With me they receive the respect, acceptance, and appreciation they deserve.
